Ex-House of Representatives member, Hon (Prince) Ned Nwoko has explained the circumstances surrounding the death of a University of Benin student who alongside his colleagues were in his massive country home in Idimuje-Ugboko, Aniocha North Local Government of Delta State on an excursion.
In a statement made available to journalists, Hon Nwoko said, “I understand he was among over 50 students from University of Benin that went for excursion to my house which is an officially listed monument by the Delta State Government.
”At about 5pm, there was a heavy downpour, and all the students decided to jump into the pool at the same time. The deceased was trampled upon and when they realised this, my pool attendant and others took him out and tried to resuscitate him.
”Thereafter, they rushed him to the nearest health centre where they claimed not to have oxygen to revive him.
”He did not die in the pool by the account of my pool attendant and others present, including his colleagues from the University.”
