Borno Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, has sounded a threatening note to banks in the state that fail to provide new naira notes at the ATM machines.
Zulum issued this threat at the weekend while moving around banks in Maiduguri to witness the situation at ATM machines.
The governor while expressing displeasure at the situation in general as over ten banks’ ATM spots he visited dispensed no cash, with many residents hanging around it, in hopes that there would be a positive twist, threatened to withdraw Certificate of Occupancy of banks wilfully failing to load their ATM with new notes.
“Any bank in Borno State that is not willing to ensure their ATMs are fully dispensing new naira notes cash to ease the suffering of our people, we will withdraw their land title immediately. We will only spare Banks with genuine constraints that are verifiable” he said.
