One Ikechukwu Obiora has killed his wife of six months, Ebere Obiora, for keeping him waiting at their residence gate.
The incident happened on Thursday at Ezi-Ogwugwu, Otolo Nnewi in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The pair just got married, with Ebere said to be few months pregnant, while Ikechukwu was allegedly an abusive husband.
Things came to a head last Thursday at around 7.00am when he arrived home and was kept waiting at their residence gate, by the wife, who was having her bath, sources said.
Adding that it riled him to no end, and when she eventually turned up, Ikechukwu went for Ebere’s neck, strangled her and after the harm was done fled.
His mother’s endeavour to cover him up by lying to their in-law that Ebere slumped to death before his arrest were in vain, report further said.
“I returned home in the morning of March 2, 2023, and was knocking at the gate, but my wife did not open the gate immediately.
“In that anger, I started shouting at her. I first slapped and hit her from the gate to the house before angrily grabbing her by the neck and strangling her,” the killer husband under interrogation reportedly narrated.
