Nine persons caught eating in public during the ongoing Ramadan have been arrested in Kano.
The State Hisbah Board announced their arrests through its Deputy Commander, Mujahid Aminudeen.
The latter said those involved were found eating in broad daylight on Wednesday, the first day of the Muslim fasting, two of whom are women while others are men.
Providing more details, Aminudeen stated that the arrested individuals were Muslims and currently in the Shariah agency’s custody.
“We arrested them and they are with us, where we will teach them the importance of fasting, how to pray and read the Qur’an, and how to become good Muslims,” he said.
