President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday hinted that the disposition of the leadership of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, to embark on protest and industrial action to drive home their demands is politically motivated.

Tinubu alleged this while speaking in Lagos State during the inauguration of the first phase of the 37-kilometre Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red Line.

A statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Ajuri Ngelale, conveyed this.

Retelling his principal’s attack on NLC leadership, Ngelale quoted him as saying, ‘’Some labour unions should understand that no matter how we cling to our freedom and rights, to call four strikes within the first nine months of a new administration is unacceptable.

‘’If you want to directly participate in the electoral process, wait until 2027.

“If not, maintain the peace. Labour is not the only voice of Nigeria.”
