Report has attributed alleged ordeal confronting
the group CEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited, Bashir Bayo Ojulari, to claim that he has a business relationship with Abdullahi Bashir-Haske, a son-in-law to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
Report first surfaced that Ojulari who was appointed as NNPCL GCEO about four months ago by President Bola Tinubu was on Friday forced to tender his resignation letter by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Department of State Security Services.
That initial one linked his supposed problem to one Olatimbo Ayinde, who the account said is an influential figure in President Tinubu’s administration.
To that resignation claim, neither Ojulari nor the NNPCL made a response either to deny or corroborate it.
What has now followed is report by The Cable that truly Ojulari is in troubled waters with his job on the line allegedly due to discovery that he was having deals in NNPCL with Bashir-Haske’s company, AA&R.
Bashir-Haske is married to Atiku’s daughter as per the report.
It said AA&R, a company with interests in energy, agribusiness, logistics, and information communication technology, enjoyed NNPCL’s patronage from the time of late Maikanti Baru as the company’s head.
The news said Baru’s death brought the privileges bestowed on AA&R in NNPCL to an end, due to sour relationship between Bashir-Haske and the deceased’s successor, Mele Kyari.
Ojulari’s rein, the report said, turned the tables in favour of AA&R as the incumbent restored business deals with the Atiku’s son-in-law’s company.
The publication added that the NNPCL boss was also found out to be funnelling monies into AA&R’s bank account(s) in alleged money laundering.
The alleged discovery which amounted to be in bed with the President’s enemy, the online news medium is the genesis of Ojulari’s problem.
“Although there are reports that he has resigned, TheCable learnt from insiders that he has not thrown in the towel yet, ‘but only a miracle will keep him in office at this stage.’
“President Bola Tinubu, who appointed him to replace Mele Kyari only four months ago, is said to be ‘livid’ over security reports on Ojulari’s activities so far in office.
“The NNPC GCEO has been a subject of money laundering investigations following the alleged transfer of millions of dollars to the account of AA&R Investment Group, a company with interests in energy, agribusiness, logistics, and information communication technology,” the publication wrote.
