A herder, Nura Idris, who the Department of State Services, DSS, arrested on suspicion of involvement in terrorism has been released and gifted N3m by the secret police.

Nura Idris, according to reports, is a herder and farmer from Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

He was reportedly arrested in Suleja, Niger State, in June 2024 for allegedly having links to terrorists.

It said that Idris was first apprehended by another security agency before he was moved to DSS’ custody and after over a year comprehensive review of the case the DSS found no basis for the allegations against him.

The discovery it was further said, prompted the DSS Director-General to order his immediate release and approve compensation.

“I thank the DGSS for his kindness. I was well treated in DSS custody and I pray that Allah rewards the DGSS immensely,” sources quoted Idris as saying upon his release.
