The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a tough warning to prospective corps members: No National Electronic Registration Database (NERD) clearance, no mobilisation!
As preparations gather speed for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ orientation exercise, the scheme announced that NERD clearance is now compulsory for every prospective corps member, warning that anyone who fails to obtain it will not be allowed to participate in the national service programme.
In a notice posted on its official X account on Monday, the NYSC urged prospective corps members to secure their clearance immediately to avoid last-minute problems.
“Without NERD clearance, no NYSC. Get your NERD clearance early. Avoid delays in your mobilisation,” the scheme warned.
It doubled down on the directive, declaring: “NERD clearance is compulsory for all PCMs. No NERD clearance, No NYSC!!!”
Although the agency did not explain how the clearance process works, the latest order signals a tougher screening process ahead of the next mobilisation exercise.
The warning comes just hours after the NYSC announced the mobilisation of another batch of prospective corps members for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ service year and urged schools and graduates to complete all registration requirements before camp opens.
The scheme also recently warned corps members against travelling to orientation camps at night, advising them to break their journeys and stay in safe locations or nearby military and security formations where necessary.
With mobilisation now in full swing, prospective corps members have been told to complete every required registration and verification step — especially the newly enforced NERD clearance — or risk missing out on national service.
