The vote-buying promo ascribed to Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has prompted his denial.
The promo, ‘Vote Abiodun and Get N20,000’ is making the rounds on the Internet.
Gov. Abiodun is seeking re-election on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The governor reacted to the vote buying scheme ascribed to him in a statement his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, authored.
In it, Somorin distanced his principal from the promo, alleging that it was a ploy by the governor’s adversaries to blacken his reputation.
Additionally, the CPS said, the promo was fake and intended to swindle unsuspecting members of the public, adding that in no way would the governor tread such path, having allegedly distinguished himself in office in the last four years.
“Governor Abiodun, rather than procuring people’s votes, had embarked on political campaigns to showcase his scorecard, commissioned landmark projects and canvassed for votes for all the All Progressives Congress candidates as well as for his reelection,” he remarked.
