The crisis rocking Ondo State has continued to boil up with Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr Olamide Oladiji dropping a hint that the Deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, is disobeying President Bola Tinubu.
The latter had intervened in the crisis wrought by the ill-health of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu with Aiyedatiwa approaching the court to seek for order to stop moves by the State House of Assembly to impeach him.
It has equally polarised the lawmakers.
General thinking that Tinubu’s meeting with both parties would instantly lead to sheathing of swords may have been put to bed with the Speaker alluding that the Deputy governor has disrespected the resolutions with the President allegedly bordering on submission of resignation letter.
Oladiji said this after Tuesday’s plenary session, the first after the meeting with Tinubu that took place at the Villa last Friday.
He demanded Aiyedatiwa’s resignation letter saying it was part of the resolutions reached with the President.
According to him, “For the avoidance of doubt, let me present to the good people of Ondo State, the resolutions reached after the meeting of representatives of the Ondo State House of Assembly, the State Executive Council members, members of the National Assembly from Ondo State and the state Chairman of the All Progressives Congress with His Excellency, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the leadership of our great part, that all parties shall embrace peace, that status quo be maintained by all parties, that all impeachment proceedings be terminated forthwith, and all court cases withdrawn by all parties.
“That there will be no dissolution of the State Executive Council, that an undated letter of resignation must be written and signed by the deputy governor and submitted to the President, that the party leadership and structures remained intact, that the House of Assembly leadership remained intact and that Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa continues to perform the functions of office as deputy governor.”
