Public and private schools in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, have been shut due to fear of bandit attack.

The closure was ordered by the Chairman of the council, Taiwo Adegoroye.

Announcing the development to newsmen, Adegoroye said the move was a precautionary measure to safeguard pupils, students, teachers, and other education workers amid security concern and potential threat to lives and property.

The council boss explained that students currently participating in national examinations would however be allowed access to school premises strictly for the purpose of writing their examinations.

He warned school authorities against flouting the closure order saying sanctions await those found erring in accordance with extant laws.

He pleaded to parents and guardians to ensure that the directive is complied with by their wards.
