The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), said the arrest of actress and cosmetologist, Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, better known as Simi Gold is born out of a viral video of revelers spraying new naira notes at a party.

In the clip, the merrymakers are seen throwing the new notes at themselves with scores of it on the floor and stepped on.

Earlier report in circulation, said Gold’s arrest followed an alleged tweet of her hawking the new notes on Twitter, a claim a statement the EFCC’s Head of Media & Publicity, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren issued controverted.

In the remark, EFCC said the Actress’ apprehension is due to the trending video.

She is sighted in it, spraying wads of the redesigned notes.

The act as per the anti-graft agency, is a violation of the naira notes, and an offence offence contrary to Section 21 (5) of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN Act, 2007.

Uwujaren explained that she is on administrative bail, with her Range Rover and iPhone in the EFCC’s custody, while investigation is ongoing, adding, “once investigations have been concluded, she would be charged to court.”
