The claim by Senator Dino Melaye that the current leadership of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is overseeing an “obituary”, has drawn the reaction of the party’s Kogi State chapter.

“PDP is the only surviving party of the 4th Republic. After 27 years of surviving all shenanigans. Alex Ekwueme, Solomon Lar, Sunday Awoniyi, Adamu Chiroma, Tony Anenih, Abubakar Rimi etc will be turning in thier graves seeing what Damagun, Ayanwu and Bature are doing to the dream of building a national party. PDP now, Obituary!!! SDM,” Melaye had said in a post on his Facebook page.

In response to the allegation, the party’s leadership in Kogi State where the former Senator hails from, called for his suspension.

The call was made through a statement issued by the party’s elders, led by Alhaji Ibrahim Dansofo.

In it, the chieftains asked the local executive committee in Ijumu, Melaye’s local government, to initiate immediate suspension proceedings against him.

They also tore into the loquacious politician, saying: “Melaye’s political ambitions have crumbled to the point where he can no longer secure even a local councilor position

“Senator Melaye has become a burden to the party. His accusations against the current leadership are hypocritical, as he himself was granted a governorship ticket despite the party’s awareness of his inability to win even a primary election.”
