Picture of the bedroom of late Afro-beat king Fela Anikulapo Kuti has been released on the occasion of his 77th posthumous birthday by artist, Yagazie Emezi.
Captioned “Fela’s preserved belongings. Clothes like no other. Kalakuta. Ikeja, Lagos. Keep up the exhibitions,” Emezi shared the picture on her Instagram account.
Born on 15 October 1938, Fela was married to over 27 wives and died of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, AIDS, in 1997.
A multi-instrumentalist, musician, composer, human rights activist, and political maverick, ten years after his demise, his eldest daughter, Yeni Kuti, came up with ‘Felebration’, an event initiated to celebrate the life and time of her late father.
This year’s edition is currently ongoing and will come to a close on October 18.
