An investigation is to be launched by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) into an alleged abuse of power by the President, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick who is facing allegation of awarding contract to his company.

The allegation against Amaju was made in a petition before the EFCC, which emanated from the National Association of Sports Industry and Market.

The NFF’s board is also caught in the controversy .

According to gongnews, the group in a petition to the chairman of the EFCC, dated 5th January, 2016 and jointly signed by Mohammed Abubakar and David Anore, president and secretary of the group, respectively, alleged that the NFF president, Amaju Pinnick has, “without due process, awarded a contract of N150million to a company called Valerino Interiors for the furnishing of the new secretariat of the NFF, the Sunday Dankaro Football House, package ‘B’, National Stadium, Abuja.

It was alleged that Amaju, who is the true owner of the company, used one Obi Nwosu as the representative of the company for the job.

Also, the petitioners alleged that the NFF board misappropriated the FIFA grant that was released to it in 2015 by the world soccer governing body for the development of women and grassroots sports, including the grant for the Super Eagles qualification for the 2014 World Cup.

“We, as a recognised body and stakeholder in the sports industry, consequent upon which we want to draw your attention to the massive fraud and corruption in the NFF under the leadership of Amaju Pinnick,” the petition noted.
