Police have launched a search for Austin Ikenna Adiele after about 35 grams of gold, said to be worth N7 million, reportedly went missing in Lagos.

The Nigeria Police have called on members of the public to help track down Adiele, who was reportedly last seen in Surulere, Lagos, on Monday, August 17.

According to the information released to the public, efforts to contact the man since then have allegedly failed, raising concerns over both his whereabouts and the location of the missing gold.

The missing precious metal is said to weigh approximately 35 grams and has an estimated value of N7 million.

Police are now seeking information that could help unravel what happened and lead investigators to both Adiele and the missing gold.

Anyone who knows Adiele’s whereabouts or has information that could assist in recovering the gold has been urged to contact 09064811051 or report immediately to the nearest police station.

The police, however, warned members of the public against taking the law into their own hands, stressing that anyone who spots or has information about Adiele should pass it to the authorities rather than attempting to arrest or confront him.

The appeal comes as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding the disappearance and determine what happened to the valuable gold.

The case was publicly reported on August 21, with the police appeal specifically seeking information from members of the public.
