The Lagos State Government has fixed N7,882,822 as the final fare for Muslims in the state planning to perform the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
The amount represents a slight reduction from the N7.9 million paid by pilgrims in 2026.
The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board disclosed the new fare, with its Secretary, AbdulHakeem Ajomagberin, crediting the reduction to the efforts of the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf.
Ajomagberin said the NAHCON leadership had made reducing the cost of Hajj and improving the experience of Nigerian pilgrims a priority.
He urged intending pilgrims to make payment on or before September 26, 2026, in line with the deadline issued by NAHCON.
According to him, early payment is crucial as it would allow the board to process travel documents and meet deadlines set by the Saudi Arabian authorities.
The board secretary also assured prospective pilgrims that the Lagos State Government would maintain its commitment to their welfare throughout the pilgrimage.
Among the services to be provided are quality accommodation, daily meals including local delicacies, comfortable transportation within Saudi Arabia and organised visits to historical sites in Makkah and Madinah.
The government, he added, would also provide adequate medical services, pay the Basic Travel Allowance (BTA) and assist with the slaughtering of Hadayah rams, among other provisions.
Ajomagberin encouraged intending pilgrims to take advantage of the payment window and complete their registration and financial obligations early to avoid last-minute complications.
