Professor Ado Garba Jangargari of Federal University Dutse (FUD), Jigawa State, has secured a Twenty-Five Million Naira (N25 million) grant under the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) National Research Fund (NRF) scheme.

The grant was awarded to him in recognition of his research proposal titled, “Tech for Peace: Engaging Northern Nigeria’s Pastoralists in Non-Agricultural Livelihoods to Counter Banditry and Kidnapping.”

The research project, according to report, seeks to explore the use of technology-driven solutions to provide alternative sources of livelihood for pastoral communities in Northern Nigeria, with the aim of reducing insecurity, particularly banditry and kidnapping that bedevilled the region.

Professor Ado Garba Jangargari is expected to commence the implementation of the research project under the TETFund National Research Fund programme, which supports high-quality research aimed at addressing Nigeria’s developmental challenges.

Jangargari is with the department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development of the Federal University Dutse.
