Another dignitary from Kano State, Balarabe Maikaba, a professor of Mass Communication, Bayero University, has died on Sunday of suspected coronavirus.

Balabare is the sixth professors from the state to have died within a week and one of scores of dignitaries of the northwest state extraction to pass on within the same period, sparking fear that the pandemic is on the rampage in the area.
However, the cause of the deceased professor’s death was still unclear but rumour is rife that he was lost to the dreaded virus.
Recall that around twenty-four hours earlier nineteen prominent persons from the state died including regional manager of First Bank, Abdullahi Lawal, the CEO of Hassan Gwarzo School, Prof Ibrahim Ayagi, and former Kano Grand Khadi, Alh. Dahiru Rabiu.
Others are: Dr. Musa Umar Gwarzo, former Editor of Triumph Newspaper, Mal Musa Tijjani, former Secretary, State Universal Education Board, Alh. Adamu Iliyasu Dal and Alh Salisu Lado, Hajia Shamsiyya Mustapha, Hajia Nene Umma, Alh. Garba Sarki Fagge, Dr. Nasiru Maikano Bichi, Prof. Aliyu Umar Dikko of Physiology department BUK, Alhaji Rabiu Dambatta, Kabiru Ibrahim Bayero, Hajia Gwanja, Alh Garba Sarki Fagge, Alh Idi Mai Lemo Sheka and Captain Abdullahi Gyadi Gyadi.
