The ringleader of robbery gang that attacked the Mpape branch of First Bank in Abuja simply identified as Ernest Ewim has been arrested.
Recall that a criminal gang of six men including a Customer Service Officer with the bank, Larry Ehizo on Saturday stormed the branch with the view of robbing it but the operation was foiled by the police.
In the ensuing gun battle, one of the robbers suffered casualty while four others including Ehizo were arrested but Ernest, who all the suspects while being quizzed in detention claimed he was the ringleader and masterminder of the failed operation escaped
Ehizo in his own confession said he was conscripted to guide the robbery gang during the operation under duress by Ernest.
Details of Ernest’s arrest was sketchy as of press time but it has however been confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, DSP Anjuguri Manzah.
