Hundreds of residents of Sapele area in Delta, took to the streets on Wednesday to protest extension of the on-going lockdown amid the coronavirus by 14 days.

Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa on Wednesday morning in a broadcast announced the lockdown extension by 14 days after an initial two weeks from April 1.

The extension was much to the displeasure of Sapele residents, following which they took to the streets in protest chanting: “We no go gree o, we no go gree”, according to Vanguard.

“We prefer to come outside and die than to be locked indoor, we have stayed inside for two weeks we can’t go to the market, we can’t go anywhere, we are hungry, we will not accept this,” the paper quoted one of the protesters as saying.
