NIGERIAN FOOTBALLER SLUMPS TO DEATH DURING FRIENDLY MATCH 8-DAY AFTER BIRTHDAY

A Nigerian playing football in Malaysia, David Oniya has slumped to death during a friendly match involving his club side.

Oniya died of heart attack eight day after his 30th birthday, which was June 5, 2015 during a match between his Malaysian club, T-Team and Kelantan.

The deceased who was the captain of his side, slumped about three minutes after the match started in Kota Bharu and was taken to hospital where he was confirmed dead.

The match was abandoned after 60 minutes when a message was received from the hospital that Oniya had died.

It was his first season in T-Team. He had previously played for Uzbekistan side, FK Samarqand-Dinmo for five years.
