A thirteen year-old boy simply identified as Rokeeb has committed suicide in Lagos after reciting the call to Subuh prayer, Muslim morning prayer.
Rokeeb’s body was reportedly found hanging from the ceiling in an uncompleted building beside his home at 25 Ekimogun Street, Apelehin under Isokan community in Bariga area of Lagos.

The incident happened last Monday around 9.00am.
Before killing himself, Rokeeb was said to have recited the call to prayer around 5.00am and was seen in the mosque reading the Quran.
The deceased, however, left the mosque when he sighted his mother leaving their house for a bus stop in Bariga where she sells noodles.
It was said that the deceased teenage boy asked his mother for money but was not given. Rather the mother launched a tirade at him.
Reports say Rokeeb was angered by the manner his mother reacted to his request and threatened to kill himself, a threat she took lightly and ignored.
It was further gathered that after Rokeeb carried out his threat and hanged himself, his bereaved mother has been at large.
