Tanker driver arrested in Lagos as tragedy averted
A tanker driver has been arrested in Lagos on Wednesday after his truck loaded with huge amount of diesel was involved in a lone accident at Ayobo-Ipaja Road, spilling its content on the road.
Eyewitnesses who were present when the scene unfolded, said one of the rear tyres of the truck was deflated but rather than pulling over, the driver whose identity was not known as at the time of this report continued to drive on.
The truck, however, hit the road median at Mosalasi Alhaji Bus Stop causing it to tumble and spill its content on the road.
The situation caused panic among motorists and passersby as fear the whole place would go up in smoke rent the air.
Their fear was however, allayed by the timely arrival of officers of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, fire service and that of LASMA and police who barricaded the affected road and diverted traffic.
