A teacher has beaten a student to death at Adazi-Ani in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The State Police Command made this known via a statement its spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga released on Friday where it was alleged that the teacher flogged the student to death.

According to Ikenga, the killer teacher was yet to be arrested but a manhunt has been launched for the person of interest by the police’s Safe School Initiative Operations, led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, ACP Harrison Oruruo.

The incident, the police spokesperson stated, was reported on the evening of July 16, 2026, after which police operatives attached to the Neni Division responded and rushed the victim to a hospital.

“On receipt of the report in the evening of July 16, 2026, Police operatives attached to Neni Division responded promptly and rushed the victim to a Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor while receiving treatment,” he explained, adding that the deceased’s remains had been deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
