An Ikeja Magistrate Court has remanded a 23-year-old labourer, Isaac John for theft and chopping off a finger of his victim pending when his remand warrant will be brought to the court.
The victim, Mrs. Ogochukwu Aronwu was robbed of her bag, and hospitalized after being attack by the suspect at Airport Road in the evening.
John is facing a three count charge bordering on robbery, infliction of wound and attempted murder, preferred against him by the police.
Magiatrate Eniola Fabamwo ordered that he be remanded after going through the first count charge.
The Police prosecutor, Inspector Benson Emuerhi, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence on February 14, 2014 at about 7:50 p.m.
He said the incident happened along Murtala Muhammed Airport Road in Ikeja area of the state.
Okoi said the defendant, while armed with a knife and other dangerous weapons, robbed one Mrs Ogochukwu Aronwu of her hand bag containing some money and headtie.
The prosecutor also alleged that John inflicted wound on his victim by cutting off her left hand, adding that the defendant with intent to kill his victim, used a knife to cut off the fourth finger of her left hand.
However, the defendant, who has no fixed address, pleaded guilty to the charges.
The magistrate then adjourned the case till March 10, 2014.
