President Bola Tinubu has
approved the establishment of a Presidential Task Force on Ebola Virus Disease Preparedness and Emerging Public Health Threats.
The approval follows renewed cases of the fatal viral illness reported in parts of Africa.
The step taken by the president was made known by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga via a statement the latter released on Tuesday where it was that Tinubu also approved the release of N10bn as emergency funding to strengthen Nigeria’s preparedness against the possible outbreak of the disease.
Onanuga declared that the money earmarked would strengthen the operational preparedness of the National Centre for Disease Control and Prevention and support critical national public health emergency response activities.
The task force, according to statement will be chaired by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and will include relevant federal agencies and state representatives.
