The woman caught throwing her 5-year-old disabled child in a river in Edo State has laid the blame at the doorstep of a self-professed prophet.
The incident occurred at Ovia North-East Local Government Area as the community members caught the woman red handed disposing of her disabled child.
The moment was videoed and posted on X user ChuksEricE on Tuesday.
In the clip, the woman is seen in a red clothe in a canoe alongside those who apprehended her.
The report that accompanied the video has it that under arrest, the woman pleading for mercy said that she was advised by a so-called prophet to get rid of the baby who told her that the baby was a python in human form and responsible for her inability to conceive again.
“The seer told me that the child was a python and that if I did not get rid of the child, I would either continue giving birth to children with the same condition or never conceive again,” the woman said in the viral video.
