Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Asbagu Aliyu Muhammad, the officer in charge of Operations at the Zamfara State Police Command, is dead.
DCP Muhammad reportedly died at about 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at the Ahmed Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau, where he had been receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness.
The tragic development was announced by the Zamfara State Police Command through its spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar.
In a statement, Abubakar described the late DCP as a senior police officer who served the Nigeria Police Force with dedication, professionalism and a strong commitment to duty.
His death, the command said, had left a huge void in the Zamfara police formation and represented a major loss to his colleagues and the wider Nigeria Police Force.
The Commissioner of Police, Zamfara Command, CP Ahmad Muhammad Bello, expressed his condolences to the deceased officer’s family, relatives and colleagues.
Bello prayed for Allah to forgive Muhammad’s shortcomings, accept his good deeds and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
He also prayed for strength and fortitude for the family, friends and colleagues of the late DCP to cope with the loss.
The deceased officer is expected to be buried at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, at Sheikh Ibn Umar Kanoma, in accordance with Islamic burial rites.
The command urged colleagues and well-wishers to stand with the family during the difficult period while praying for the peaceful repose of the officer’s soul.
