Omotayo Sanusi, popularly known as Iyan Aladuke and estranged wife of Nollywood actor Femi Adebayo, has broken her silence on the explosive rumours surrounding the collapse of her marriage — and cleared actress Toyin Abraham of any blame.
Sanusi, in a strongly worded statement posted on Instagram on Wednesday, described as “completely false” claims that Abraham told her Adebayo was having an affair with another actress during a movie production.
She also denied ever storming a movie set, confronting or attacking any actress over the alleged affair.
“I have deliberately chosen not to publicly respond to the many false stories and allegations surrounding my marriage,” she said.
“However, because these narratives continue to spread and are being presented as facts, I believe it is necessary to address one of them.”
‘Toyin never told me about any affair’
Sanusi directly tackled the allegation that Abraham was behind the marital crisis by allegedly informing her about an affair involving Adebayo and another actress.
“The allegation that actress Toyin Abraham was responsible for the problems in my marriage by allegedly informing me that another actress was with my then-partner on a movie set is completely false,” she said.
“For the record, I never confronted, attacked, assaulted, or harassed any woman or man at any movie location.
“No such incident ever took place.”
‘I was there throughout the shoot’
Sanusi said she was present throughout the production at the centre of the controversy and played an active role in supporting the project.
According to her, she and her team handled catering and welfare for more than 500 cast and crew members for over a month.
“I was present on that production from the very beginning until the end of the shoot,” she said.
“My team and I were solely responsible for the welfare of the entire production, catering for over 500 cast and crew members for more than one month as my contribution and support to my then-partner.”
She questioned how the alleged confrontation could have happened without anyone witnessing it.
“In a production involving over 500 people, I find it difficult to understand how such an incident could have allegedly occurred without a single witness, or how no one heard or witnessed this falsehood,” she added.
‘Let my accusers come forward!’
Sanusi challenged anyone who claimed she assaulted or harassed them during the production to come forward publicly.
“If anyone genuinely claims to have been attacked by me—directly or indirectly—they should come forward and say so themselves,” she said.
“Until then, I respectfully ask that people stop repeating and amplifying false narratives that have no basis in truth.”
She explained that she had remained silent because she preferred peace and did not want to publicly drag those involved.
But she warned that her silence should not be mistaken for an admission of guilt.
“I have remained silent out of respect for everyone involved and because I chose peace over public disputes,” she said.
“However, my silence should never be interpreted as an admission that these allegations are true.”
‘So, I can’t defend myself?’
In another Instagram post, Sanusi hit back at critics who questioned why she had chosen to respond to the allegations.
She accused some people of happily spreading damaging claims against her but attacking her when she attempted to set the record straight.
“So, it’s acceptable to spread lies, but it’s not acceptable to debunk them?” she asked.
“What sort of hypocrisy is that?
“If you were comfortable listening to the accusations, you should be just as willing to hear the clarification. Truth deserves the same platform that lies were given.
“Silence should never be mistaken for guilt.”
Funke Akindele dragged into fresh controversy
The drama took another turn after an Instagram follower urged Sanusi to clear actress Funke Akindele’s name over previous allegations allegedly linked to her former friend, Toun.
Sanusi denied making the alleged claims against Akindele.
“You are still gullible enough to believe I said that,” she replied.
“Let her provide evidence that I ever said those words… Until then, don’t present allegations as facts.”
How the Toyin Abraham rumour started
The controversy resurfaced after a TikTok blogger alleged that Abraham told Sanusi that Adebayo and Akindele were romantically involved during the production of Jagun Jagun Part 2.
The blogger further claimed that Sanusi stormed the movie set and confronted Akindele, with the alleged incident said to have contributed to the breakdown of her marriage to Adebayo.
The same claims suggested that Akindele later turned some Nollywood producers against Abraham after allegedly discovering that she had instigated the confrontation.
The blogger also linked the alleged rift to speculation that Akindele ignored Abraham at Iyabo Ojo’s movie premiere in April.
But Sanusi has now rejected the claims, insisting that Abraham did not cause the collapse of her marriage and that the alleged movie-set confrontation never happened.
