A young Igede man, identified as Kingsley Okebe from Adum East, Edii, in Obi Local Government Area of Benue State, has reportedly died in his sleep, leaving his family and community in shock.
Kingsley reportedly went to bed after spending a seemingly normal evening with friends, but failed to wake up the following morning.
Details of the tragic incident were shared on Facebook by Ogor Joseph Odeh, who described the deceased as a vibrant young man and expressed sadness over his sudden death.
According to Odeh’s account, Kingsley had been with his friends on the evening before his death and appeared perfectly fine.
He reportedly played music from his phone while leaving his friends and later went to DJ Bobby’s studio to charge his phone.
After leaving the studio at about 11pm, Kingsley was said to have headed straight home to sleep.
But by morning, alarm bells were raised when he failed to respond.
His neighbours reportedly had to break down the door of his residence, where they allegedly found him dead.
Odeh said there was no known indication that Kingsley had been ill before the incident and added that he had not been attacked.
The sudden death has reportedly thrown his family and friends into mourning, particularly because Kingsley was married and had three children.
In another heartbreaking twist, his wife was said to have travelled back to her father’s house just a day earlier after returning to the community for the Igede Agba celebration.
Her husband’s sudden death reportedly occurred shortly after her departure.
The circumstances surrounding Kingsley’s death were not independently established in the Facebook account, and no official cause of death was given.
His death has nevertheless left friends, neighbours and relatives searching for answers as the family mourns the loss of the young father.
