The father of late Nollywood actress and content creator, Nimmy Ferrari, has broken his silence following allegations by the actress’ mother over the circumstances surrounding her death and the ownership of the house she built shortly before her death.
Nimmy, whose real name was Adesanya Nimota Omotolani, reportedly died at the age of 26, just days before the planned housewarming ceremony of her newly completed home in Sagamu, Ogun State. Actress Oluwakemisola Apesin, popularly known as Kemity, was among those who announced her death online.
The tragedy has since been followed by a bitter family dispute.
Nimmy’s mother had alleged that members of her late daughter’s paternal family were opposed to burying her at the house and wanted the property sold instead.
She also made claims concerning Nimmy’s upbringing, education, medical care and her relationship with her father.
The allegations had not been independently verified at the time they were made.
But Nimmy’s father has now come forward with a different account.
In a social media video on Wednesday, September 9, the grieving father strongly rejected any suggestion that he could have harmed his daughter.
He explained that Nimmy contacted him after she had already gone to a hospital for fibroid surgery.
According to him, she told him that the hospital had already carried out the necessary scan and that the operation would cost about N3.6 million.
He said he questioned why she had not informed him earlier and suggested that she consider a doctor he knew in Abeokuta.
The father also addressed the controversy surrounding Nimmy’s house.
He claimed that Nimmy had told him she wanted to build a house of her own.
He subsequently approached family elders, who, according to him, agreed to allocate part of the family land for her.
He further claimed that he personally assisted with the construction and that Nimmy had asked him not to disclose the arrangement to her mother.
The father alleged that Nimmy had previously acquired another piece of land through her mother, but that the land was later sold by her mother.
His account comes just hours after Nimmy’s mother publicly raised concerns over what would happen to her daughter’s property and burial.
The dispute has generated emotional reactions online, with many Nigerians urging the bereaved parents to put their differences aside and allow their daughter to rest.
Meanwhile, the exact cause of Nimmy’s death has not been officially established publicly. Reports have linked her death to complications following fibroid surgery, but her family has not publicly confirmed an official cause of death.
The latest development has therefore opened a fresh chapter in the heartbreaking story surrounding the young actress’ death, with both parents now presenting sharply different accounts of what happened before and after her passing.
