A 43-year-old truck driver, Abubakar Musa, was on Friday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for causing a near miss with the convoy of Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.

Musa was said to have driven recklessly and swerved into Osinbajo’s motorcade on the Oshodi Apapa Expressway, Oshodi, prompting his charge with reckless driving and obstruction on public road.
The court heard from the Prosecutor, Insp. Samuel Mishozumu, that the incident happened on January 19 when the defendant drove his truck with registration number LND 976 XF into Osinbajo’s convoy, and shunned instruction to give way to the convoy, NAN reports.
The offence, Mishozumu said, contravened the provisions of sections 19(1) and 45 of the Road Traffic Laws of Lagos State.
However, the defendant, pleaded not guilty to the charge with Chief Magistrate O. D. Njoku granting him N50,000 bail with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until Feb. 19 for trial.
