The academic community of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, has been thrown into mourning following reports of the death of an engineering lecturer, Engr. Dr Emmanuel Fasina.

Fasina was reported to have died on the morning of Saturday, October 10, 2026, according to a condolence message said to be circulating among students.

However, the circumstances surrounding his reported death, including the cause, had not been established as of the time of filing this report.

The reported development has raised concerns among members of the university community, particularly students and colleagues familiar with the lecturer’s academic work.

Checks on the university’s Faculty of Engineering website identify Dr E.T. Fasina as a member of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, where he has served in an academic leadership role.

The department’s official profile lists him as a specialist in electric power systems and power system control, while a departmental handbook also records his qualifications in engineering and doctoral studies at Cardiff, United Kingdom.

His academic credentials include a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Ado-Ekiti, a Master of Technology degree from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, and a PhD from Cardiff, UK.

The Faculty of Engineering at EKSU runs programmes in Civil, Computer, Electrical and Electronic, Mechanical, and Mechatronic Engineering, with academic staff responsible for teaching, research, student supervision and professional training.

As news of Fasina’s reported demise circulates, attention is expected to turn to the university management and the lecturer’s department for an official statement confirming the development and providing further details.

A search of publicly indexed online reports and Facebook-related results did not establish an independently verifiable account of the circumstances of his death. No cause of death is therefore being attributed to him.

The reported loss has cast a shadow over the university community, as students, colleagues, friends and relatives await further information.

May his soul rest in peace, and may God grant his family, colleagues and students the strength to bear the loss.
