The Kano government said the attack of the State High Court by hoodlums during the hunger protest was premeditated to steal court documents pertaining to the prosecution of ex-governor Abdullahi Ganduje, wife, Hafsat, and six others for alleged corruption.

Ganduje and seven others are in the throes of prosecution bordering on alleged corrupt practices running into billions of naira during his time in the saddle of the state.

The corrupt charges were levelled at them by the state government.

The incumbent Governor Abba Yusuf on Wednesday on a tour of the High Court that came under attack during the protest hinted that the vandalisation was political.

Yusuf said those responsible for it were paid to carte away Ganduje’s corruption charge documents in order to thwart the prosecution.

The governor’s remark during the tour was amplified by a statement his spokesman, Sanusi Bature released.

“The vandalism is a masterminded and staged-managed mission in which the hired miscreants carted away the corruption charges documents.

“It is very unfortunate that enemies of Kano State hired undesirable elements to vandalise one of the historic public buildings with a mission of averting corruption charges against Dr. Ganduje, his family and aides,” the governor reportedly said.
