Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has dumped the African Democratic Congress, citing alleged rigging of the party’s recent presidential primary in favour of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Recall that ex-governor Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen who also were in the race for the ADC presidential ticket made uncomplimentary remarks about the primary and pulled out of the exercise in grievance before Atiku was declared winner.

The former SGF on his part, on Monday announced his departure from the party in a statement he shared on his official Facebook page.

“I am exiting the ADC because its just concluded primaries were at all levels massively rigged in favour Kachalla Abubakar Atiku.

“Results were just written or rewritten to favour him and his coven. Even where they allowed some semblance of election to hold, the winners were simply replaced with members of his syndicate. In the real sense it was a disgraceful charade,” he said.

In the post, Lawal explained that he chose to say goodbye to the party due to convincing belief that its political structure could influence future elections.
