Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has given reason he led a delegation of prominent politicians on a courtesy visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari at his residence in Kaduna on Friday.
The visit by the opposition chiefs has excited suggestion that it was all about efforts against President Bola Tinubu’s reelection come 2027.
Speaking with journalists, Atiku said the courtesy call is not political.
Rather, according to him, it’s in respect of the recent Sallah celebration.
“We came here on a courtesy and Sallah greetings visit to President Muhammadu Buhari,” he said.
On enquiry as to plans to form a major opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate in 2023 said, “There is a plan for the major political parties to come together and form a strong opposition, but it is not part of this visit.”
