A 30-year-old housewife, Shukurat Olufowobi, has been arrested over allegation that she beat her five-year-old stepson, Azeem, to death.
The incident happened on Sunday at Ogijo area of Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who made this known, said Shukurat’s husband and father of the deceased was also in custody. He alongside the wife attempted to destroy evidence by hurriedly and in secret buried the deceased at Ajah area of Lagos State.
Oyeyemi said the step-mother from hell, hit her victim with an object on his head causing him injury to his skull which resulted in his death.
“Information further revealed that the woman and her husband hurriedly took the corpse of the victim to Ajah in Lagos State where he was secretly buried.
“Upon the information, the DPO Ogijo Division, CSP Suleman Baba Muhammed, quickly mobilized his detectives to the scene where the couple who have started packing their belongings away from the area were promptly arrested.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the woman has been maltreating the victim whose mother has separated from the father due to irreconcilable differences.
“On the fateful day, the boy was beaten on the head with a heavy object which caused him a broken skull resulting to his eventual death,” the police spokesman explained.
