A woman simply identified as Madam Ajayi has killed a two-year-old boy, Toluwalase Fadahunsi, in Iju, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State with a bottle, which she smashed on the tot while he was sleeping.
It was gathered that the deceased was sleeping on his mother, Mrs Iyabo Fadahunsi’s bed on Tuesday when Madam Ajayi sneaked into the room where he was sleeping and smashed a bottle on his head.
The boy’s cry attracted her mother who rushed into the room to find his him in a pool of his blood.
Before help could come from neighbours the boy reportedly died as a result of the impact of the bottle on his head.
The mother’s cries was said to have attracted neighbours who rushed to the house. The suspect’s attempt to escape was thwarted. She was reportedly beaten blue-black.
The suspect who was later rescued from the angry mob and handed over to the police in Iju/Itaogbolu said that she did not know what had come over her.
Police image maker, Wole Ogodo, who confirmed the incident, said the matter had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, CID, for investigation.
