The aide-de-camp to embattled former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, and other police officers attached to him are currently in detention of the Nigeria Police Force.
Bello is facing prosecution at the hands of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on allegation of defrauding Kogi while he was in the saddle of the state of N80bn.
The immediate-past governor has been evading arrest.
This was brought to the fore during the week when EFCC operatives stormed his Abuja residence to effect his apprehension but were prevented by his successor and the incumbent governor, Usman Ododo, who escaped with the fugitive.
Consequently, the Nigeria Immigration Service placed him on watchlist while the EFCC declared him wanted.
It also made the Inspector General of Police to withdraw all officers attached to the embattled, former governor.
The officers are currently in detention on grounds that they played part in preventing EFCC from apprehending Bello at his Abuja residence.
This is according to Punchng.
“The ADC and the other police details attached to Yahaya Bello have been arrested and detained.
“They were arrested on the order of the IG, on the suspicion that they aided and abetted the former governor’s escape from the EFCC on Wednesday,” it quoted an unnamed police source as saying.
