Nigerian street-pop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has sparked reactions online after demanding more money from President Bola Tinubu and his son, Seyi Tinubu, following his appearance at an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in Lagos.

In a viral video recorded after the political gathering, the singer complained about the physical stress he claimed to have endured, insisting that his initial payment was not enough to compensate him for the experience.

The rally, held at Onikan Stadium in Lagos on Tuesday, attracted politicians, entertainers and supporters of the ruling party, with Portable among the personalities present.

In one of the circulating clips, the singer was seen lying on the floor and demanding to see Tinubu and Seyi Tinubu, while his manager, Babylov, attempted to get him back on his feet.

“I want to see Tinubu and Seyi Tinubu; they have almost squeezed me to death. I have fainted; it is Tinubu that is winning. Did we not collect money? Tinubu, pay me more money; I am feeling so much heat,” Portable said.

Although the singer acknowledged that he had received payment for the engagement, he insisted that he deserved more money because of the stress he claimed to have experienced at the rally.

The circumstances surrounding his reported condition have not been independently established, while the amount he received and whether the president, his son or the rally organisers would respond to his demand remain unclear.

Portable had earlier spoken openly about receiving payment for a campaign-related engagement, linking it to his improved ability to give money to people on the street.

In a video that circulated on social media earlier in October, the singer said he had been struggling financially before receiving the payment.

“I was broke before, that’s why I haven’t been spraying money for the street, but now, I want to do rally for Tinubu, they’ve paid me, I’ve collected money and now I’ll show love to the street,” he said.

His comments have drawn attention to the financial considerations surrounding his participation in political activities, although the terms of his engagement with the rally organisers have not been made public.

Portable, known for his outspoken personality and frequent social-media controversies, has previously made headlines over his views on political endorsements.

In September 2025, he was reported to have said he would support whichever politician paid him to back a presidential ambition ahead of the 2027 election. The remark triggered reactions over the role of money in celebrity endorsements and political campaigns.

His latest outburst has once again put his political involvement in the spotlight, with the singer’s demand for additional payment becoming a talking point online.

It remains unclear whether Portable’s remarks were entirely serious or partly intended as humour, and no response from Tinubu or Seyi Tinubu was immediately available.
