Senator Shehu Sani has countered claim by immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai that he was above stealing government money while in office.

El-Rufai in a self-congratulation while bowing out of office, said he was not cast in the corrupt mould like his predecessors, and so acquired no personal property as governor.

The ex-governor’s sanctimony has excited reaction from Sani, a Senator formerly representing Kaduna Central.

The latter challenged El-Rufai to make public his asset declaration forms alluding that the former FCT Minister enriched himself in office.

This accusation Sani threw at El-Rufai in series of tweets in which he claimed the Kaduna former governor coveted being appointed Minister by President Bola Tinubu despite purportedly supporting Rotimi Amaechi during the primary of the All Progressives Congress.

The tweets: “Mr Elrufai, retired Governor now back to ‘blogging on Twitter’ while waiting for political appointment from Tinubu, after working for Amaechi and surreptitiously dropping negative stories.”

“You left a huge debt profile for our Children and grand Children in Kaduna State to pay AND YOU claimed that you NEVER STOLE from the coffers of Kaduna State. One of your stooges even claimed that you are poorer now. I dare you to make public your assets by publishing the content of the form you submitted at the Code of Conduct Bureau, both the one of 2015 and that of 2023. I will get back to you after you have done this.”
