Indication has emerged that protest by Nigeria Labour Congress over the removal of the oil subsidy is looming as a member hinted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu risk facing ulimatum to maintain the status quo.

Consequent upon Tinubu’s inaugural speech concerning his pronouncement that the oil subsidy regime has come to end, petrol prices soared, with Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited announcing an increase in price from less than N200 per litre to averagely N500 per same unit.

A meeting between representatives of the federal government and their Labour counterparts on that account on Wednesday ended in deadlock.

By the sound of a report by Punchng citing an unnamed member of the NLC, a cloud of workers’ protest is gathering as plan is reportedly afoot to issue government ultimatum to rescind its decision.

“We will be meeting. An ultimatum will definitely be issued for the government to rescind its decision. But I will want the the NLC president to confirm that to you,” the publication quoted the source as saying.
