The allegation that
Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, is also into sponsorship of banditry has drawn his response.
Lawal has been saying that the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle who happens to be the governor’s predecessor is funding banditry ravaging the state.
In a counter-accusation, and denial of the allegationon, Matawalle on Tuesday on Channels Television said his successor, Lawal, and General Ali Gusau(retd.) are the pot calling kettle black.
In short, the minister called on both to swear by the Holy Quran that they have no hands in banditry in the state.
The Zamfara governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sulaiman Idris faulted the minister’s claim in an interview with Punchng.
“He has done that (swore by Qu’ran). There was a clip of him during an event, when he was lamenting over an incident that happened. That time, he swore that he didn’t have anything to do with banditry and he prayed that anyone who had a hand in the banditry in the state, God should punish the person.
“He (Matawalle) is lying. We mentioned names. He should come out and clear his name. He needs to explain his relationship with them,” the publication quoted Idris as saying.
