Zenith Bank Plc is set to launch a new empowerment initiative aimed at equipping young girls with the skills, confidence and knowledge to pursue their dreams and prepare for future opportunities.

The maiden edition of the programme, tagged “Banking On Her Tomorrow,” will hold virtually on Monday, October 12, 2026, at 11am, a day after the global celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child.

The initiative was conceived by the bank’s Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dame Dr Adaora Umeoji, who made history as the first female to lead Zenith Bank as GMD/CEO.

Umeoji, known for her advocacy for girls’ education and women’s empowerment, is spearheading the programme to encourage young girls to aim higher, discover their potential and prepare for leadership roles in different sectors.

The event will feature experts from various fields who will share insights and practical guidance on education, career development, skills acquisition and leadership.

Beyond inspiring participants, the programme is designed to expose girls to mentorship opportunities and help them make informed decisions about their academic and professional futures.

Zenith Bank said the initiative would become an annual platform for nurturing ambition, building confidence and expanding opportunities for girls.

The programme also builds on the bank’s existing investments in women’s development and gender-focused initiatives.

These include its annual International Women’s Day Seminar, sponsorship of the Zenith Women’s Basketball League, the Women of Honour Awards organised in partnership with the Ford Foundation, and the Pad-a-Queen Initiative.

The bank also operates Z-Woman, a programme designed to support women-owned and women-led businesses through specialised financing, capacity development and networking opportunities.

Together, the initiatives form part of Zenith Bank’s broader effort to promote women’s economic participation and contribute to national development.

The maiden girl-child empowerment programme is open to the public, with girls, parents, teachers and other interested participants invited to attend.
