A 19-year-old newlywed, Aisha Musa, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly attempting to poison her husband’s meal barely 40 days after their marriage.

The shocking incident occurred on August 12, 2026, in Gwamma Village, Bauchi Local Government Area, throwing the community into concern.

According to the police, Musa allegedly mixed a poisonous substance into her husband’s food at about 3:15pm.

The alarm was raised later that evening after a woman from the Wunti Dada area of Bauchi reportedly contacted the police to report the incident.

Following the distress call, operatives of the ‘C’ Division, Tafawa Balewa Estate, rushed to the scene and evacuated the man to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi.

The victim was said to have survived the suspected poisoning and is currently receiving treatment in stable condition.

The police said Musa was arrested shortly after the report and allegedly admitted to the offence during interrogation.

Officers also recovered an empty bottle suspected to have contained the poisonous substance, as well as remnants of the meal, which were taken as exhibits.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered the case transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a detailed investigation.

The suspect is expected to be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigation.

The command also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the police.
