Africa’s ninth richest man, Patrice Motsepe, has emerged as the new President of the Confederation of African Football, CAF, succeeding disgraced Ahmad Ahmad, who was banned by FIFA from all football-related activities for two years for financial misconduct.
Motsepe, the billionaire mining magnate, won the election held on Friday at the CAF’s 43rd General Assembly in Rabat, Morocco with Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick elected into the FIFA Council.
