The Nigerian Army has arrested two serving soldiers over their alleged involvement in an unauthorised deployment at the lavish wedding of TikTok stars Peller and Jarvis in Lekki, Lagos.
The two soldiers were reportedly picked up on Tuesday morning after military authorities received intelligence about their alleged role at the celebrity wedding.
The arrests have sparked fresh questions over the presence of serving military personnel at private social events.
Military sources identified the arrested soldiers as Private Onasanya Ifeoluwa, 23NA/85/10007, of the 81 Division Medical Services and Hospital, and Private Ukpai Onyinyechi, 23NA/85/7885, also attached to the 81DMSH in Obalende, Lagos.
A senior military source said the soldiers were arrested following intelligence linking them to an alleged illegal deployment at the wedding.
The source said the investigation was still ongoing, with the Army working to establish exactly what the soldiers did at the event and whether other personnel were involved.
The controversy erupted after videos from the star-studded wedding flooded social media.
In one of the viral clips, a uniformed soldier was allegedly seen acting as a bouncer, helping TikTok personality Ivanna move through the crowded venue.
The sight of soldiers apparently providing security and controlling access at the private ceremony immediately triggered outrage online.
Many Nigerians questioned why serving military personnel would be involved in security duties at a celebrity wedding without official authorisation.
The wedding of Peller and Jarvis attracted a large crowd of entertainers, influencers and content creators, turning the Lekki event into one of the biggest social media spectacles of the weekend.
But the glamour quickly gave way to controversy after videos showing men in military uniforms at the venue began making the rounds.
The Army has consistently maintained that serving personnel are not permitted to take part in unauthorised private security jobs or illegal deployments without approval.
With the two soldiers now in custody, the investigation is expected to determine how they ended up at the wedding and whether others were involved.
