A woman reportedly plunged into the lagoon around the Idumota-Carter Bridge area of Lagos and was rescued by a canoe operator.
The date of the incident remains unknown.
The woman, who was dressed in Ankara clothing, was pulled out of the water by the canoe driver in a rescue captured on video.
The footage, posted by Lagos Reporter, showed the woman being brought to safety as people gathered around the scene.
In the clip, one of the people at the scene could be heard telling the canoe operator not to take the woman to the police station.
Another woman, while reacting to the incident, said nothing could make her attempt to take her own life.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, including whether the woman deliberately jumped into the lagoon and what may have prompted her action.
The canoe driver’s quick intervention prevented what could have ended in tragedy.
