Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has opened up on how his family stood by him through scandals, personal battles and the heartbreaking loss of his child.
The 30BG boss revealed that his brothers, sisters and father have remained his strongest support system, always rallying around him whenever trouble strikes.
Speaking in an interview with Vibe Q, Davido said his family members are often the first people to call whenever he faces a crisis.
“My family has been the only one helping me through scandals and problems. My brothers, sisters and father are always the first to call me when something bad happens,” he said.
Recalling the difficult period after the death of his child, the singer said his family refused to leave his side until he recovered from the devastating loss.
“When I lost my child, they stayed with me until I was fine,” he said.
Davido said his relatives still understand the pain he endured and are particularly happy whenever they see him perform.
“They’re always happy seeing me perform because they know how broken I was when I lost my child,” he added.
The singer also disclosed that his family constantly checks on him, even when he fails to call them.
“Even on days I don’t call them, they always call to check up on me. Family should not be played with,” he said.
Despite the controversies and personal challenges that have followed his career, Davido said the unwavering support of his family has helped him remain strong and keep pushing forward.
